Eternal Fame
Winner of the 2023 Top3 Contest with 207 participants is Tobias Steige from Germany.
Second Palmiro Candreva from Italy and third Gustavo Candelas from Spain.
Winner of the 2023 Pick20 Contest with 264 participants is Jon Mulkeen from Great Britain
Second Kay Schaafsma from the Netherlands and third Robbie Dale from Great Britain.
Congratulations everyone. Eternal fame for Tobias and Jon. All winners are highly experienced contesters.I am more and more convinced: winning is more an art than luck.
For Tobias this was already his 12th participation with a 5th place as his best till date.
Palmiro won last year and now tops the all-time rankings with his 5th participation, winning almost
twice in a row. Gustavo (10th particpation) is the contest winner of 2015 and 2018!
Santi, Mattia, Pat & Roope also already earlier in the top 10.
For Jon this was already his 18th participation in Top3 (1st in 2003) and 10th in the pick20 contest
(3rd in 2013). For Kay this was his 17th participation since 1999. But he participated also already in the
very first years - 1991? Where did I save those results anyway?
And ...15 chose the wrong Ingebrigtsen and 22 the wrong Alekna brother. Fortunately not decisive.
All time rankings
The All time Top3 and Pick20 rankings (default based on Average Percent Rank) are updated and
are lead by: Santi Velasco and Joaquãn Carmona Torre (unbridgeable lead). The former leader
Oliver Garner had a lesser year (58th) and lost its top spot with Gustavo and Palmiro appearing in the
top3 with their 5th participation. With his 3rd good result in the Pick20 contest Jonathan Berenbom is
someone to follow for the future.
Upward trend
With 307 participants in the Top3 Contest, and 264 on the Pick20 Contest, we have the highest numbers
since London 2017. That was the last year of that serie of tournaments (2011+).
A great result, which I am very happy with and no idea why.
Hope to see you participating next year with the Olympic Championships in Paris.
